Compliance with IPPC ISPM 15 is likely required if a company exports goods which are on top or inside of any solid wood packaging materials such as pallets, crates, spools, wood boxes, and lumber based assemblies or bracing.
Packnet assists customers with export compliant solid wood packaging materials. Packnet is licensed and audited by Timber Products Inspection Agency. We source and process approved heat-treated materials and then stamp all of our finished products such as pallets, wood boxes and crates with the licensed ISPM 15 mark, which is specific to our company. We will ship our heat-treated and ISPM 15 compliant products to customers so they can package and ship directly from their site or we also offer in-house and off-site packaging and crating services.
What is ISPM 15?
More than 150 countries at the International Plant Protection Convention adopted the title Regulation of Wood Packaging Material in International Trade, but most commonly referred to as ISPM 15, in March 2002. Every participating country was then allowed to choose a future date for actual implementation and enforcement. This particular standard was developed as a means to greatly reduce the phytosanitary concerns related to growing global trade and the significant spread of forest destructing pests such as the Asian Longhorned Beetle, Emerald Ash Borer and the Pine Wood Nematode through solid wood packaging materials. Many countries have determined the origination of these pests linked to the transportation of non-heat-treated or non-fumigated solid wood packaging.
